2019 DANCE COMPETITION OVERVIEW

2019 set a new record for us at the Te Awamutu Competitions Society, the introduction of our facebook page (www.facebook.com/dancetacomps) has meant that entry and competition information is readily available and our Jazz section entries closed within 24hrs of opening, with Ballet following closely behind, we also saw a great lift in our Tap section entries which is exciting, particularly in the older age groups.  The support of local sponsors has been fantastic this year and we continue to see an increase in "local" Waipa competitors  involved in the competitions which is also exciting.  Strong support from our local dance schools Imperious Dance Company and Te Awamutu School of Dance as well as KS School of Dance in Cambridge is the main reason for the increased local participation. Thank you to all the wonderful helpers and supporters we can't do it without you all.

TAP SECTION

Our Tap section saw strong entry numbers in 2019 particularly in the senior age group.  Our lovely adjudicator Shona Devoy had a very tough job selecting her PACANZ nominees in such a strong class. The adjudicator for 2020 will be Anthony Murdoch from Whanganui. We wish our Two nominees all the very best at the 2020 National Young Performers event later this year

MODERN/JAZZ

2019 was another very successful year for our Modern section.  Adjudicator Jenni Simkin  was fantastic as always.  Congratulations to our local crews from Imperious - Mega Crew and Country Kids group both taking out first place in the Groups/Troupes extravaganza night which saw capacity crowds.  We will be offering Troupe/Group and Modern/Jazz PACANZ nominations in 2020.

BALLET SECTION

Jenni Simkin also adjudicated the ballet section in 2019. Congratulations to Anna D'Souza our PACANZ nominee from 2019, we wish you all the very best in New Plymouth later in the year.  In 2020 the adjudicator for Modern/Jazz & Ballet will be the lovely Kate Martin from Levin.
